DIESEL has unveiled its Spring/Summer 2015 pre-collection. Artistic Director Nicola Formichetti explains that "the main focus of this season is students who dropped out without ever showing up to campus." The theme for this season is "independent and anti-preppy." Based on the three subtitles of "preppy rock," "tattoo," and "black carpet," the collection proposes a unique college style with a sporty twist. Items that fit the mold of preppy style, such as blousons, sweatshirts, tailored blazers, and cardigans with matching logos, are crafted with distressed denim, graphic prints resembling "tattoos," and inkwork on leather jackets to create a fresh, anti-mainstream preppy look. The brand's free-spirited, unrestrained approach is reflected in evening wear, including vinyl-coated minidresses and shirts and dresses with bold, detachable ruffles. Tuxedos are paired with slim black denim accented with black Swarovski crystals, while film-thin tulle is layered over fitted dresses, creating a classic look that also makes an impact.
The denim collection is centered around Diesel's key colors of black, gray, and indigo. The vintage jeans collection features a new wash called "Brave Frontier," with different shades of indigo denim patched on the leg. The "Jogg Jeans," which have a jersey-like stretch, are decorated with zippers and shiny studs.
