A collaboration project between the film "Carol" and Pass the Baton: "The most powerful and beautiful color: Red for me"

Jan 25, 2016

From February 5th to 28th, PASS THE BATON in Omotesando, Tokyo, will be holding a collaboration event with the film "Carol," which opens nationwide on February 11th.

"Carol," a much-talked-about film about two women of the same sex who are attracted to each other, is said to be a strong contender for this year's Academy Awards. Based on a novel written under a different name by Patricia Highsmith, known for works such as "Purple Noon," the film was adapted by renowned director Todd Haynes. The two women are played by Rooney Mara, arguably the most promising young actress, and Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett.

The story is set in 1950s New York. Therese, who works part-time at a luxury department store, meets Carol, a striking woman with vibrant blonde hair and glossy red lips, in a busy Christmas sales floor. Therese is fascinated by this incredibly beautiful woman, but as she learns the true nature hidden behind her beauty, her admiration turns into an unexpected emotion.

Inspired by "Carol," Pass the Baton will be holding an event titled "The Strongest and Most Beautiful Color: Red to Me." The event will feature red, the film's key color, which plays a role that almost speaks for the feelings of the main characters. Various red items will be exhibited and sold, and suggestions will be made to coordinate fashion and interior designs to make the color red look even more attractive. In addition, those who purchase items from this project during the event will receive a free ticket to see "Carol" on a first-come, first-served basis.
