Actor Orlando Bloom was born on January 13, 1977, in Canterbury, Kent, England. At the age of 16, he joined the National Youth Theatre in London and then studied acting at the British American Drama Academy. After appearing on stage and on television, he made his film debut in "Oscar Wilde" in 1999. He then went on to study at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he gained experience in many stage productions, including Shakespeare's plays. Just before graduating, he auditioned for the role of Legolas in the blockbuster "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and became known worldwide as the "elven prince" with his long, flowing blond hair and graceful archery. He also received high praise for his handsome and brave performance as Will Turner in "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl," released in 2003. He also appeared in the sequels to the film, released in 2006 and 2007, and became one of Hollywood's leading stars.

In 2007, he appeared in the stage production "In Celebration" and also in a commercial for Shiseido's "UNO". In 2013, he played Legolas again in "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug".

In his personal life, he married model Miranda Kerr in 2010. Their first son was born in 2011, but they divorced last year.
