Top nude photographer Andreas Beitesnig's first solo exhibition in Japan. Introducing his masterpieces and unpublished polaroids.

May 13, 2013

The first exhibition in Japan of Austrian nude photographer Andreas H. Bitesnich is being held at Tokyo Arts Gallery in Shibuya, Tokyo.

The exhibition is divided into two parts, allowing visitors to explore Bitesnich's worldview through two contrasting series.

The first part, "STUDIO NUDES," will run from April 30th to May 15th. It will display Bitesnich's representative studio nude works chronologically, and will also feature his Polaroid works for the first time.

The second part, "DEEPER SHADES," will run from May 29th to June 12th. It will feature works capturing the urban landscapes of Tokyo and New York, an area Bitesnich has been focusing on in recent years. The chaotic urban atmosphere is captured in monochrome, with rough textures and emphasized contrasts.

Since his first collection, "NUDE," was selected for the Kodak Photography Book Award in 1998, Beitesnig has held numerous exhibitions, mainly in Europe, and published 11 collections of his work. He has also worked in the fashion field, shooting for magazines such as GQ, MAX, Quest, and Stern, and for advertising photography for Mercedes-Benz, Montblanc, Samsung, German sock manufacturer Falke, and Italian sneaker brand Superga. He is widely regarded as one of the top nude photographers of our time.
