The pop-up shop "LOVE LAB with Tanaka Katsuki," a collaboration with Tanaka Katsuki, the famous creator of "Koppu no Fuchiko," is open until April 15th at the West Park on the third floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku.
Under the theme of "Experiments and Rebirth of Love," the shop offers a selection of apparel and accessories featuring love-related motifs like hearts and kiss marks, as well as story-driven items. It also features limited-edition items with original designs by manga artist Tanaka Katsuki.
The illustration, featuring a surreal heart being pinched and manipulated, was created by Tanaka Katsuki specifically for this exhibition. Items featuring this motif include T-shirts (no chest pocket: ¥9,500, chest pocket: ¥10,000, with three patches: ¥13,500) and iPhone cases (two designs, two colors each: ¥3,800) available exclusively at the store. The venue also features capsule toy gachapon machines. In addition to the Cup no Fuchiko figures (two colors/¥200 per play), which come in six different poses, including "Hanging Fuchiko" and "Hooking Fuchiko," plus one secret type, there's also the "Sleeping Twin Office Ladies, An & Min" (¥300 per play). Figures of the twin office ladies, An and Min, hanging, reading, or performing acrobatic moves are attached to the tips of earplugs. Tanaka Katsuki is a manga artist and filmmaker. His representative works as a manga artist include "Baka Drill," "Ossu! Tonko-chan," and "Here e!" (Here!). He's known for his work on Clammbon video clips, art direction for Kinriji, and his recent sauna-themed manga essay "Sauna-do." He's also known as the creator of Cup no Fuchiko.
