
WALLS TOKYO, an art boutique in Hakusan, Tokyo, is holding the exhibition "Art Within Design" until November 2nd.
The exhibition focuses on the "art/artistic quality" within contemporary design, with the theme of examining the importance and future possibilities of "art" and "design." The exhibition features 11 internationally acclaimed artists active in the design field, including balloon unit Daisy Balloon, graphic designer Hideki Inaba, space branding specialist Junji Tanigawa, Kotaro Watanabe, who explores the coexistence of "craftsmanship and storytelling," creative director Shinji Kawamura, art director Masayoshi Furuhira, graphic/art collective NAM, Tei Hidekazu, president of Intentionalies First-Class Architects, design duo Wabisabi, and Yuji Tokuda, special lecturer in the Department of Visual and Communication Design at Musashino Art University.
The art direction and design were handled by artless.inc, a global brand design consultancy that has won numerous awards, including the Cannes Lions Gold Award and the Good Design Award, and the curation was handled by its representative, Shun Kawakami.
In addition to exhibiting works, talk events with designers, editors, curators, and more are scheduled during the exhibition.
