Danish sports brand hummel has released the new MARATHONA NUBUCK, a more subdued version of its archive model MARATHONA, a running shoe from the 1980s. Along with the sporty MARATHONA SUEDE, the new model will be available at all Hummel official S-Rush stores and sneaker shops nationwide from early September.
■80s Running Shoes
The MARATHONA was born in 1983 as a long-distance running shoe. It became a popular item in the European running scene in the 1980s and has been revived as a sneaker to coincide with the retro running style trend.
Marathona will also collaborate with world-renowned shops such as AFEW in Düsseldorf, Germany, OVERKILL in Berlin, mita sneakers in Ueno, Tokyo, and United Arrows' street line "Monkey Time." This will be a pair of sneakers that represents Hummel.
The Marathona features distinctive side panels and ventilation holes. MARATHONA NUBUCK uses long-pile suede and nubuck to create a calm atmosphere perfect for the autumn/winter season, with colors that evoke Scandinavian nostalgia.
MARATHONA SUEDE combines mesh parts with suede for a sportier look. Both items are equipped with Orthelite insoles for improved comfort.
