The Pink Ribbon Campaign is a social contribution initiative launched by the Estée Lauder Group in 1992. It raises awareness of breast cancer and supports breast cancer research and patient organizations through donations to help women live healthy lives during and after treatment. The campaign is active in over 70 countries worldwide, and to date has raised a total of $53 million. Approximately $42 million of that has been used by BCRF to support 166 breast cancer research projects worldwide. The campaign runs from October 1st to October 31st. Additionally, the "Global Landmark Illumination," which illuminates landmarks around the world in pink, will be held again this year. In Japan, Tokyo Tower, Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Tokyo Skytree, and Toranomon Hills will be illuminated on the evening of October 1st. Additionally, in collaboration with Japan Airlines, airplanes with pink ribbon decals will begin operating on domestic routes in early October.
