Each bookstore will act as a concierge, recommending "the book you should read now" to FASHION HEADLINE readers. Every Thursday, each store of the art bookstore "NADiff" will introduce a book they recommend. This time, we will be introducing the Aichi/Nagoya branch, NADiff Aichi (1-13-2 Higashisakura, Higashi-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Aichi Arts Center B2F).

■ "Picasso, The Secret of Genius"

This book is the official catalog for the exhibition of the same name currently being held at the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art (Higashi-ku, Nagoya).

Pablo Picasso is a painter who is often portrayed with remarkable images, such as the fact that he changed his style many times during his long 91-year life, that he was one of the founders of 20th-century Cubism, and that he produced over 100,000 works. While Picasso is best known for his 1937 "Guernica," a painting depicting the Spanish Civil War, which he painted at the age of 56, this exhibition focuses on works from his childhood and adolescence. The son of an art teacher, Picasso learned to paint before he learned to speak, and this exhibition begins with a precocious work he painted at age 13. The exhibition unravels the background to his "Blue Period" and "Rose Period" styles, and explores his deepening exploration of Cubism from 1907 onward, presented in chronological order. Along with books and miscellaneous items related to Picasso, NADiff Aichi also offers rare items, such as framed copperplate engravings from books Picasso worked on in the 1930s.
