On August 22, 2021, A BATHING APE(R) will collaborate with ASICS, Japan's world-renowned national sports brand known for its innovative technology. The GEL-1090, a long-loved shoe with a modern and sporty silhouette, will be released in a special edition with an original BAPE(R) design.

The timeless classic "GEL-1090," which debuted in 2003, has been updated with modern technology, bringing its functionality to the forefront. This collaboration, through the lens of BAPE®, evokes the street scene of the early 2000s. While retaining the original "GEL-1090" tiger claw print motif on the toe and heel, the design incorporates BAPE® flair into every detail. The inside of the shoe features BAPE®'s signature tiger and shark motifs, and the entire shoe is finished in BAPE®'s original camo. This exclusive item features meticulous attention to detail, including the heel, tongue, and insole. The lookbook for this collection was created by Tokyo-based photographer RK. Set against the backdrop of Tokyo's cityscape, the look vividly expresses ASICS' active, sporty appeal and BAPE®'s street style. Experience the world of "A BATHING APE® X ASICS" through the look, which captures the cityscape and neon lights in fantastical colors with RK's unique sensibility.

ABOUT RK
A photographer/DJ based in Tokyo. Born in Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture. In 2014, he was selected as a suggested user by Instagram official, and his style, which encompasses Tokyo's street scene, portraits, and other genres, has been featured not only in Japan but also in many international media outlets. In 2017, he was approached by Apple to hold an event at their Ginza store. Since April 2018, he has been a freelancer, shooting and working on projects for numerous brands.
