From August 11, 2021, STYLE&EDIT on the 3rd floor of Yokohama Takashimaya will be hosting a MITRA pop-up shop featuring pottery by French artist Jean Pierre Kohut.

Jean Pierre Kohut's pottery is characterized by a technique called "crystalline glaze," in which the glaze crystallizes as it is slowly cooled after melting.
"Crystalline glaze" is only formed when all conditions are met, including the amount of glaze applied, precise temperature, and time management. Each crystal, resembling a jewel or flower, is unique and one-of-a-kind. Because it takes 4-6 days (usually 1-2 days) to remove from the kiln after the firing begins, it is a time-consuming process, and not many pieces are produced.

In recent years, its artistic value has been recognized, drawing increasing attention, with renowned French restaurants using it. Furthermore, as people spend more time at home, the large, vibrant crystals and colors of this glaze are popular with people of all ages as plates to brighten up the dining table, or as interior décor for displays and trinket boxes, helping to lift the spirits.
