Since her debut in 1982, Kyoko Koizumi has creatively challenged stereotypes, effortlessly transcended boundaries, and offered new perspectives through her diverse range of roles, songs, and writings. Through this collaboration with Spotify, we are taking on a new audio challenge, providing listeners with the opportunity to take a step forward, guided by their own unique values and curiosity.
Books have always been a part of Kyoko Koizumi's life, and her encounters with books have opened doors to new interests and colored her life's journey. Each episode of this program invites a guest who is deeply connected to books. Over a book, they share their experiences and thoughts on their daily lives, their outlook on life, and the new worlds they invite. Our first guest is Yataro Matsuura, former editor-in-chief of the magazine "Kurashi no Techo" and essayist, as well as the president of COW BOOKS in Nakameguro, a pioneering independent bookstore known for its discerning book selection and space. Together, the two discuss how books have influenced them, two of whom are of the same generation who have always focused on their own hearts and carved out their own paths in life. We will continue to invite various book-related guests, including Yoshie Watanabe and Ryosuke Uehara of the design unit KIGI, who created the artwork for "The Real Koizumi-san," essayist Kazuko Mukaida, Akiko Matsuo, president of Etcetera Books, store manager Sayaka Terashima, and author Mariko Yamauchi. To coincide with the program's launch, the new unit "Kuro Neko Doumei," formed by Kyoko Koizumi and bassist/producer Kenji Ueda, has written a special theme song to express the program's unique worldview. Comment from Kyoko Koizumi: Whenever I open a book, I feel like I'm opening a door to a new world. I hope that by listening to the stories of people working in the book industry, listeners will also open new doors. Spotify is the perfect place to "open the door to a new world." We hope to enjoy chatting freely and in a relaxed atmosphere.
