
Kyoto tea shop Fukujuen will open "French Chakaiseki Kyoto Fukujuen Saryo," a restaurant serving French tea kaiseki cuisine and Uji matcha, on the 3rd floor of the Gran Roof at Tokyo Station's Yaesu exit on the 20th. Opening hours are from 11:00 to 23:00.
The restaurant has an area of approximately 150 square meters. The ceiling is decorated with fixtures inspired by shomido (traditional Japanese sliding doors), a symbol of Kyoto's imperial culture. A folding screen depicting the "Rakuchu Rakugaizu" (views in and around Kyoto) is displayed on the wall.
The menu will offer "French Chakaiseki" cuisine, a combination of French cuisine and Uji tea and the tea ceremony. At lunch and dinner time, they serve course meals (lunch: 4,200 to 6,300 yen, dinner: 6,300 to 12,600 yen), at tea time they serve sweets made with tea (around 1,260 yen), and at nighttime they serve cocktails and other alcoholic drinks made with tea (around 1,260 yen). They also sell tea leaves and other merchandise.
Fukujuen was founded in 1799. In addition to a store selling famous Uji teas, their Kyoto main store also has a cafe and French restaurant. They also sell tea utensils and original teas.
