Otaki Town, located in Minami Boso, Chiba Prefecture, is the castle town of Honda Tadakatsu, a military commander and vassal of the Tokugawa clan, and its scenery evokes that history.
However, once you leave the town center, you'll find lush forests and rice paddies. If you want to take a break during sightseeing or after a hike, we recommend the Otaki Herb Garden, an all-weather indoor herb garden that's perfect for relaxing with children and pets.

Admission to the glasshouse garden is free. The pet-friendly facility also features separate dog runs for large and small dogs.
The facility's main attraction is a greenhouse garden spanning over 4,500 square meters. Over 200 varieties of herbs are cultivated seasonally, allowing visitors to not only admire them but also pick them themselves and purchase seedlings. The space is designed to be enjoyable for anyone, not just herb lovers.

Pick your favorite herbs from the designated area and enjoy fresh herbal tea (500 yen) with homemade herb cookies.
Pick edible herbs, such as pesticide-free mint and lemongrass, and make your own fresh herbal tea on the spot. You can also take any remaining herbs home in a souvenir bag.

In addition to classic pasta, Sundrops also serves herb-infused omelet rice, curry, and pizza.
Sundrops is located next to a garden with a refreshing breeze. Pets are allowed on the terrace, and on the day of our visit, a neighborhood cat popped in to play—the relaxed atmosphere is evident.

Available at the on-site restaurant, "Sundrops."
The popular "Basil Pasta (870 yen)" is a dish unique to the herb garden, made with a generous amount of original basil paste. The aroma of fresh basil fills your mouth. The "Herb Ginger Soda (410 yen)," accented with the scent of rosemary, is a refreshing taste perfect for summer.

Many spices are sold at more affordable prices than usual, making them a must-have for cooking enthusiasts.
The "Garden Shop" sells original food products made with herbs. They sell cookies, pound cakes, teas, vinegars, oils, and fresh herbs. There's also a spice corner with rare spices!

The atmospheric entrance to "Koyuya"
The facility also features another fragrance shop, "Koyuya," selling original herb-based products, including essential oils, skincare, and relaxation items. With summer approaching, outdoor sprays containing lavender and geranium are apparently selling well.
Events and fairs are frequently held here, so we recommend them too. Why not spend some relaxing time surrounded by herbs, regardless of the weather?
