Each bookstore will act as a concierge, recommending "the book you should read right now" to FASHION HEADLINE readers. Every Saturday, Shelf (3-7-4 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), a bookstore in Harajuku's Gaienmae area that specializes in foreign books, will introduce a book selection.

■ "Dior" Peter Lindbergh

This was the last publishing project left by fashion photography maestro Peter Lindbergh. This two-volume set contains 165 unpublished photographs shot in New York in collaboration with Dior, as well as over 100 shots from shoots for famous magazines such as Vogue. Peter Lindbergh has photographed Dior's most iconic muses, including Marion Cotillard and Charlize Theron, and his signature style has informed the Lady Dior and J'Adore campaigns. Throughout his career, he remained one of Dior's closest collaborators. This final book is an original collaboration, dear to Peter Lindbergh's heart, and to us too. The concept behind Lindbergh's project, extraordinary in both scope and scale, was to capture 70 years of Dior's history against the hustle and bustle of New York's Times Square. Dior made an exceptional exception, allowing an unprecedented number of its most precious garments to be shipped across the Atlantic from its Paris vaults. The result is stunning. Amid the frenzy of Times Square, Alek Wek shines in his 1947 "Bar" suit, the famous ensemble that launched the House of Dior. In snippets of street scenes, models Saskia de Brauw, Karen Elson and Amber Valletta flit through crowds and scaffolding, and are projected onto building facades, clad in haute couture ranging from hand-sewn creations by Christian Dior to the latest designs by Maria Grazia Chiuri.

Lindbergh's trademark black and white and color photographs expertly highlight the intricate construction, silhouette, and texture of each garment. Designed by Juan Gatti, Peter Lindbergh's longtime collaborator and friend, Lindbergh is present in every aspect of this two-volume book. Volume 1 features 165 previously unpublished photographs and a foreword by Peter Harrison. Volume 2 pays tribute to Lindbergh's deep relationship with Dior by curating over 100 of his Dior photographs, from haute couture to ready-to-wear, men's and women's, which appeared in magazines like Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.
It is a breathtaking homage to two pillars of fashion and photography and their timeless collaboration.
