Born in 1972, Chikashi Suzuki began his career as a photographer at the Paris magazine Purple. Since the 1990s, he has been active at the forefront of editorial and fashion photography, and is now known worldwide as one of Japan's leading photographers.

This exhibition will feature new portraits and Tokyo landscapes shot on medium format and positive film, as well as a selection of recent flower-focused works following his 2018 solo exhibition, "Sunny Day, Tokyo."

Photographs are inundated in our modern world, a world of digital nature, as images that are consumed and then disappear. In contrast to this, Chikashi Suzuki opts for an analog method, shooting with a film camera on a tripod and carefully printing the images. In this way, photography regains its "photographic quality."

By conveying the concentrated richness and emotion inherent in each photograph, Suzuki encourages us to reconsider why the medium of photography has captivated photographers and viewers alike, and how human perception has changed with the evolution of technology.
