Each bookstore will act as a concierge, recommending "the book you should read now" to FASHION HEADLINE readers. Every Saturday, we will introduce books selected by Shelf, a Harajuku bookstore specializing in foreign books (3-7-4 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo).

■ "Summer of the DEAD" by Sanai Masafumi

Tokyo, Okinawa, Hong Kong and Macau. A book about the adventures of two people who travel together while battling invisible zombies.

"Countermeasures against Zombies"
"This is a book on countermeasures for the coming zombie society" (Sanai Masashi)
As we smoothly get by, people pressed for time and information, our thoughts stop, our sensibilities become numb, and our hearts become motionless... This is the terrifying disease known as "zombieism," which is rampant in society. Two men who are facing this zombie epidemic head-on have teamed up to create a book: photographer Sanai Masashi and poet Okachimachi Tako.

"Band" This book was not created with a clear division of labor, such as a photographer's photographs and a poet's poems. As Sanai Masashi says, "We made it like a band," the two spent a lot of time together, influencing each other as they exchanged words, and the work gradually took shape. Gathering night after night to work on the edit, the atmosphere was reminiscent of a high school band clubroom.

"Travel" Summer 2016, Tokyo. Summer 2017, Okinawa. Summer 2018, Hong Kong and Macau. The journey of the two zombie busters crosses the border and heads further south. What they witnessed in the dense summer air is captured in photographs and poetry. (Publisher's description)
