Shinagawa Intercity Central Garden, located at the Konan exit of Shinagawa Station in Tokyo, will host "Shinagawa Christmas Cinema Week" from December 17th to 22nd, an extraordinary outdoor theater that suddenly appears in the heart of the city.

Outdoor theaters, where films are screened outdoors, such as under the starry skies or in the city, have been increasing in popularity across the country in recent years. For this event, a fantastical outdoor theater will be set up at Shinagawa Intercity. The theater will be produced by Cinema Caravan, a mobile outdoor cinema and art project that is a pioneer in outdoor film festivals and is also responsible for events such as the nationally renowned Zushi Beach Film Festival, held during Golden Week. This event also marks the first collaboration between Cinema Caravan and the comprehensive short film brand "ShortShorts." The Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia, one of Asia's largest international short film festivals, will screen a total of 11 films across three programs, spanning a variety of genres including romance, social studies, and comedy, for free. The "Tokyo/Shinagawa Selection" will feature three films, including "Shabu-Shabu Spirit" (director: Yuki Saito), which explores the rich local resources and unique characteristics of Shinagawa and Konan, which are becoming "Tokyo's gateway," and the charms of Tokyo itself. The "Internationally Recognized Short Film Selection" will feature four films, including "Silent Child" (director: Chris Overton), which has won an Academy Award and other prestigious awards at film festivals around the world. The "Refreshment Selection" will also feature four films, including "Argentine Tango" (director: Guido Thys), perfect for a quick and refreshing after-work viewing. From December 17th to 21st, the first part will run from 7:00 PM to 7:50 PM, and the second part will run from 8:00 PM to 8:50 PM. On the final day, the 22nd, a special Christmas screening of "Love Actually" will be shown from 6:00 PM.

In addition to films, the area will also host live music performances, focusing on cutting-edge roots music, from 6:15 PM on December 18th to 21st. A wide variety of unique artists will perform, from fantastical and eccentric world music to genre-defying guitar sounds, to lure businessmen working in and around Shinagawa Intercity into the venue with soothing music. Performing artists include Otoji+Ray & Nagashima Gen, ☆.A/NAOITO, NaNaKiKu, and Ichimura Junpei. The food zone will also feature a caravan of "BLUEMOON," America's No. 1 craft beer, as well as a selection of gourmet food. Other stalls include "PORTE," which will serve meat dishes including homemade rice sausages by "Kome Sodo," a rice entertainment group whose members include members of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries' grass department; "Puru Meshi," where you can enjoy unconventional dishes created from various angles by designer, chef, and househusband "Purunii"; and "Fermented Restaurant Sahanji," where you can see and try the organic fermented food plates created by a group of Yamanashi chefs who sell agricultural and processed products in Yamanashi Prefecture. The food and beverage area will be open from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM (last orders 9:30 PM) on the 17th, and from 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM (last orders 9:30 PM) from the 18th to the 22nd.
The "forest" adjacent to the main venue will be decorated with illuminations that will be lit from 4:30 PM to midnight. The overwhelming volume of LEDs will envelop the venue in a festive atmosphere. Why not spend a winter evening at this entertainment event where you can "watch, listen, and taste" all in one place in the fantastical atmosphere of Christmas illuminations?
