The 9th annual "Christmas Market in Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse" began on November 23rd at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse. For a total of 33 days until December 25th, the event plaza will be lit up with the illumination roof and Christmas tree that were popular last year, with a motif of the ancient German city of "Aachen."

Christmas markets are said to have originated in Frankfurt, Germany in 1393, and are an event where people enjoy shopping in preparation for Christmas during the "Advent" period, a period in which people wait for the arrival of Christmas. The Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, where the market is held, is a historic building that incorporates some German architectural styles, and Yokohama is a partner city of Frankfurt. This year marks the 9th time the market has been held since 2010, offering an authentic Christmas atmosphere.
This year's theme is the ancient German city of "Aachen." A giant gingerbread man-shaped Printen doll, modeled after the local spiced cookie "Aachener Printen," greets visitors, a well-known attraction. At this event, two 3-meter-tall German-made Printen dolls, identical in shape to those found at Aachen's Christmas market, will be installed at the entrance, further enhancing the authentic atmosphere. The "Aachener Printen" will also be sold at the venue, making them a perfect souvenir, as they are hard to find in Japan.

A Christmas tree made from a real fir tree, approximately 10 meters tall, has been set up at the ocean side of the venue at the back. The illumination roof, which was well received last year, is adorned with countless lights and will once again create a tunnel of light, illuminating the path to the tree. The Christmas tree decorations were produced by Sant Jordi Flowers The Decorator, a flower shop that offers a service that connects feelings using flowers. By adding gradations to the gold-based Christmas-colored decorations, a gorgeous effect is created in the warm light.

The venue is lined with 29 Hütte (wooden huts) imported from Germany, with their roofs decorated with dolls. They sell German regional dishes such as "Kartoffelsuppe" and "Stew Panglasch" that will warm you up in the cold, as well as the classic German Christmas sweet "Stollen." Additionally, a Christmas cake produced by André Passion, owner and chef of the Michelin-starred restaurant "PACHON" in Daikanyama, will be available for the first time this year.

A German Christmas staple, "Glühwein" will be available in a record number of approximately 25 varieties, allowing you to enjoy tasting and comparing them just like in the real thing. Also available will be "Riemanns Gluhkrieg," a beer made exclusively for hot drinking in the winter, and "Veltins Pilsner," a beer brewed by the Veltins Brewery in North Rhine-Westphalia, where Aachen is located.
In addition to food and drink, Christmas items such as ornaments commonly found at Christmas markets, German goods, and original mugs exclusive to this year's Christmas market will also be available. Other events to get you in the Christmas spirit include a greeting event with Santa Claus, where you can receive gifts and take commemorative photos, and live Christmas music performances. Limited-edition Christmas goods and exclusive food and drink menus will also be available inside the building!
