Each bookstore will act as a concierge, recommending "the book you should read now" to FASHION HEADLINE readers. Every Saturday, we will introduce books selected by Shelf, a Harajuku bookstore (3-7-4 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), which specializes in foreign books.

■ "Heliotropism" Terri Weifenbach / Kate MacDonnell
A catalog for the exhibition "Heliotropism," by two female photographers who love nature, Terri Weifenbach and Kate MacDonnell. Both artists, based in Washington, D.C., are friends who respect each other. They create artworks inspired by a love and reverence for the natural world, centered on everyday events and landscapes. Weifenbach, who is also popular in Japan, recognized the affinity between their work and proposed a joint exhibition, which led to the publication of a limited-edition catalog. "Heliotropism" refers to the tendency of flowers, plants, and animals to turn toward the sun. While their photographic styles are quite different, they both approach their work with a reverence for the universe and nature, and chose the title to highlight their shared passion. Weifenbach's work features 17 pieces taken in Izu in 2015, while McDonnell's includes 17 pieces from his "Lifted and Struck" series. The exhibition runs until August 5th at Blitz Gallery in Meguro.
