Soup Stock collaborates with Kagoshima Makoto to release limited edition "soup bowls"

Mar 29, 2018
Soup Stock Tokyo is selling limited-edition "soup bowls" as the second project in a collaboration with ceramic artist Makoto Kagoshima. Pre-orders will begin mid-April on the Soup Stock Tokyo official online shop.

Following the 2018 Year Cup, Soup Stock Tokyo has collaborated with Makoto Kagoshima to create "soup bowls" for soup. The concept began in early summer 2017, and the team's visits to Arita pottery studios and collating numerous vessels led to the creation of these everyday tableware, blending seamlessly with both Japanese and Western styles.

To respect the color of the soup, the store uses white cups that complement the soup like a picture frame. However, the tableware that we use on our daily dining tables can be more free-form. Eating begins with choosing the tableware, and the "Soup Bowls" were born from the idea that the moment you choose your tableware enriches your daily dining experience, such as "I'll drink my soup from this bowl today" or "I'll make that soup because I want to use this bowl."

These items will be available in two colors on the official online shop (https://ec.soup-stock-tokyo.com/), and pre-orders will begin on April 16th at 1:00 PM, with limited quantities available. Ahead of the launch, the official online shop is also introducing the inspiration and thoughts behind the creation of these bowls.

In addition, from May 12th to 20th, also Soup Stock Tokyo in Jiyugaoka will be holding an event with Kagoshima Mutsumi titled "Eat Kagoshima Mutsumi Exhibition" (tentative title), with the theme of "Soup Stock Tokyo on Holidays." This will be the only event where you can actually touch and purchase the "soup bowls," and a limited edition "blue x navy" color exclusive to the event will also be on sale. There will also be original menus to be eaten in the "soup bowls," sales of miscellaneous goods designed by Kagoshima Mutsumi, an exhibition of handmade works, and entries for a raffle. The nine-day event will focus on "eating" and showcase the appeal of Kagoshima Mutsumi's works.
