The Museum of Broken Relationships, a real-life museum in Croatia with the theme of "breakup," is coming to Japan for the first time. From March 31st to April 14th, the "Farewell to You and Me" exhibition will be held at Arts Chiyoda 3331.


The "Museum of Separation" is a museum that displays items and stories related to the end of a relationship with a loved one, collected from the public. A former couple who had been romantically involved for four years decided to exhibit "memorable items and stories" rather than burying their precious time together in the back of their minds. The museum began in 2006 in a small shipping container. The concept of "sharing the experience of separation" has resonated with people around the world, and the exhibition has toured 45 cities in 29 countries.


With many items related to "broken hearts," this exhibition has been referred to in Japan as the "Museum of Broken Hearts." This first-time exhibition in Japan is titled the "Museum of Breakups" to showcase all the "breakups" humans face. The museum is steadily gathering items related to breakups, including not only heartbreak but also separations between friends and family. Approximately 80 items will be on display in Japan, 40 of which have been collected from around the world, and the other half are from Japan. The museum's famous souvenir, the "Eraser to Erase Bad Memories," will also be available for purchase.
