The photo book "Anna" by Yelena Yemchuk, a female photographer active in publications such as Vogue Italia, will be released in Japan in early October, ahead of its overseas release.

Elena Yemchuk's innocent documentary of an Italian woman, Anna, which she has been photographing for 20 years, is the ultimate expression of intimacy. The book is edited by Sugatsuke Masanobu, who met Elena Yemchuk in New York two years ago, hit it off, and spent a lot of time creating this book. The book design is by the acclaimed New York studio 191, which also handles graphics for Louis Vuitton and Supreme.

From the end of September, Elena and her subject Anna will be coming to Japan at Bookmark in Harajuku, where a photo exhibition will also be held.

Elena Emchuk is originally from Ukraine. Born in Kiev in 1970, she sought political asylum with her family in the United States in her early teens. After studying at Parsons School of Design and the Art Center in Pasadena, she worked on the art direction of the rock band Smashing Pumpkins' major music videos and albums. Since 1997, she has focused on fashion photography, writing fashion stories as a semi-regular for Italian Vogue, and appearing in editorials for Harper's Bazaar, DAZED, and Violet Book, as well as campaigns for fashion houses such as KENZO and Dries Van Noten. Her photo book, "Gidropark," was published in March 2011. The book contains photographs she took at an amusement park in Kyiv between 2005 and 2008.
