Smiles' artwork "Lemon Hotel" will be featured at the Setouchi Triennale. Limited to one group per day, guests will be treated to a "lemon"-filled meal.

May 30, 2016

Smiles unveiled their artwork "Lemon Hotel" (984 Teshima Karabitsu, Tonosho-cho, Shozu-gun, Kagawa Prefecture) at the Setouchi Triennale 2016, a contemporary art festival held on the beautiful islands of the Seto Inland Sea. Reservations for accommodations will begin on June 1st.

The hotel features no two-dimensional or three-dimensional artworks; instead, it is intended to "evoke something a little unsettling, like a distant memory, in the viewer's heart." Lemon Hotel is both an artwork and a place where one couple can stay per day. Guests experience the hotel by following the instructions: "Become a couple. If you don't have a partner, wait a while until one arrives." Guests will be treated to a lemon-filled meal. In the morning, they can wake up to the soft yellow glow of fabric dyed with Teshima lemons.

The accommodation fee is 40,000 yen per unit (maximum 6 people) during the high season from July 18th to November 6th, and 30,000 yen per unit (maximum 6 people) during the regular season from November 7th onwards. Meals (dinner and breakfast) are 6,000 yen per person.
